Cale Makar and Bowen Byram both missed practice Tuesday for the Avalanche, though coach Jared Bednar said he expected at least one of them to play Wednesday night against St. Louis.Bednar told reporters at Family Sports Center that both players were “banged up” after the game Sunday afternoon in Buffalo. Makar’s ailment was obvious — he crashed awkwardly into the end boards late in the second period. His coach and a few of his teammates did not like how Kyle Okposo’s nudge in the back played a role in Makar’s fall, but there was no penalty on the play.Makar did come back to play in the third period, but he also went down the tunnel towards the locker room a couple of times and stood instead of sitting at times, clearly trying to work out an issue with his right leg. Makar did say after the game that he expected to be fine moving forward, and felt like he got lucky after the incident.Byram’s ailment wasn’t as obvious. He did not appear ...

The shooting occurred on Halloween 2007, while Tran and a group of friends were attempting to rob trick-or-treaters with a .22 caliber rifle. By Nicholas Riccardi | Associated PressDENVER — Lawyers sparred Tuesday over former President Donald Trump’s relationship with the mob that attacked the Capitol, an important point in a Colorado lawsuit seeking to bar him from the 2024 ballot under the rarely used “insurrection” clause of the Constitution.Still to come: arguments over whether the events of Jan. 6, 2021, amounted to an insurrection under a provision put in the Constitution in 1868 to prevent former confederates from taking over the government. The plaintiffs presented testimony from an extremism expert who maintained that Trump had a clear relationship with far-right extremists and that they interpreted his pleas to protest the certification of President Joe Biden’s win as a call to arms.“A consistent theme is individuals reporting that they thought that Donald Trump had sent them there,” said sociology professor Peter Simi of Chapman University, a private college in Southern Califo...
