Christmas got off to a violent start in Boston Monday, with two stabbings reported in a matter of minutes, according to police. The first incident happened in Government Center, outside the Wolfgang’s Steakhouse and across from a veterans home. Police said a person was stabbed multiple times and investigators were later seen roping off the sitting area outside Wolfgang’s. Inside the crime scene, an electric Chanukah menorah was spotted. Five minutes after the incident in Government Center, police were called to the Theater District, where a fight broke out in front of the Royale nightclub. It is believed a worker at Royale, possibly a bouncer, was stabbed. Another person was injured.“That’s tough,” said area resident Michael Thomas. “They’re obviously here to protect everybody, so it’s really frustrating.” “You can’t really predict what’s going on anymore, these days,” Thomas continued. The nightclub had just hosted the Matzo Ball, a Jewish event h...276 Indians stuck in a French airport for days for a human trafficking probe arrive in India

BEIJING (AP) — A distillery in southwestern China is aiming to tap a growing taste among young Chinese for whisky in place of the traditional “baijiu” liquor used to toast festive occasions. The more than $100 million distillery owned by Pernod Ricard at the UNESCO World Heritage site Mount Emei launched a pure-malt whisky, The Chuan, earlier this month. The French wine and spirits group says it is produced using traditional whisky-making techniques combined with Chinese characteristics including locally grown barley and barrels made with oak from the Changbai mountains in northeastern China. “Chinese terroir means an exceptional and unique environment for aging, including the water source here — top-notch mineral water. The source of water at Mount Emei is very famous,” says Yang Tao, master distiller at the distillery.A centuries-old drink, whisky is relatively new to China, but there are already more than 30 whisky distilleries in the mainland, according to the whisky websi...Monday Forecast: Rain, wind continue

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers hosted a corgi race on the Levi’s Stadium field at halftime of the Niners’ game with the Ravens. Before one of the races, the video board cut to a dog *ahem* soiling the midfield logo. The analogy, folks, is obvious. When the corgi added a bit of fall color to the Niners’ logo, Baltimore led 16-12.The Ravens ran off 17 straight points in the third quarter. So the 49ers’ 33-19 loss to the Ravens wasn’t as close as the score indicated.Needless to say, it was not a Christmas to remember for the Niners, whose home-field advantage in the NFC is only held by a tiebreaker following the loss. And while a few players deserved gifts, most deserved coal for their performances. Here’s the naughty and nice list for the game: StudsRelated ArticlesSan Francisco 49ers | 49ers live blog: Niners down 33-12; Purdy has four INT San Francisco 49ers | Why the best comp for 49ers’ Brock Purdy isn’t Montana or Mar...Instant analysis of 49ers’ 33-19 defeat, Purdy’s fiasco against Ravens

SANTA CLARA – Brock Purdy’s first-career, four-interception fiasco no doubt triggered the 49ers’ Christmas night flop against the Baltimore Ravens. But now what? Also, the 49ers lost All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams to a groin injury three minutes after halftime, after he chased down linebacker Patrick Queen on the Ravens’ fourth interception of Purdy. The bright side? The 49ers (11-4) remain in position for the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed, and they still can lock that up by winning their final two regular-season games – Sunday at the Washington Commanders (4-11), and Week 18 against the Los Angeles Rams (8-7).
