When will the sun start setting later?

(NEXSTAR) — For the last couple of weeks, the sun has been setting earlier and earlier. While daylight saving time is largely to blame (it did move sunset times up by a whole hour), where we are in our orbit also has an impact. So when will the sun stop setting so early? It ultimately depends on where you live. Let’s explain. The Earth is on a tilt, as you probably know. That means there is a time when we’re tilted toward the sun, during summer, and a time when we’re tilted away from the sun, during winter. This gives us more hours of sunlight in summer and fewer in winter (in case you haven’t noticed). We’re only a few weeks away from the “shortest” day of the year, December 22. Here in the U.S., we’ll experience the least amount of daylight hours on that day. Daylight saving: Why these two states didn’t change their clocks this year While it may be a little depressing to think about being shrouded in even more darkness, early and mid-December mark a big turning poi...Holiday Arts Guide: Celebrate with everyone from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to the Blenders

A bright spot amid Minnesota’s struggles in its first home loss of the season Friday against Sacramento, which all but extinguished the Timberwolves’ in-season tournament hopes, was the play of Troy Brown Jr.The veteran wing, signed at the start of free agency in July, played 25 minutes, scoring 10 points and, more importantly, grabbing seven rebounds. He was all over the floor, making a slew of hustle plays at pivotal points.“I was proud of Troy tonight. He did a great job of immediately coming in the game and changing the way we were playing just from his effort alone,” veteran Timberwolves guard Mike Conley said. “He didn’t have to score a bucket, he didn’t have to do anything other than be on the floor and be himself, and him getting offensive rebounds, extra possessions just picked up our whole energy as a team. We need more of that. We need more guys to come and do that, especially on nights like tonight.”Frankly, Minnesota needs more of any...Small Business Saturday: How free legal services, passion transformed lives at a south St. Louis bakery

ST. LOUIS - Fred Domke is the proud founder and president of Bridge Bread Bakery, a business with a mission that goes far beyond baking."My wife and I moved back to the city not quite 20 years ago and got involved in a bunch of things in the city, including volunteering at a shelter. It was a daytime shelter for the unhoused," Domke explained. "But we thought after a while that we were doing things that made it easier for people to be homeless, so we wanted to start up a business where we could employ people with no particular background and meet them where they are in terms of what they would do."Determined to create lasting change, Domke's vision became a reality, thanks to the Microenterprise Program developed by Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM). This program offers legal support and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them navigate complex questions such as business incorporation, leasing agreements, and employee relations. KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas agreed to release 13 Israelis and seven foreigners late Saturday in exchange for 39 Palestinians imprisoned by Israel, Qatari and Egyptian mediators said, after the militant group delayed the second round of swaps for several hours and claimed that Israel had violated the terms of a truce deal. The last-minute snag had created a tense standoff on the second day of what was meant to be a four-day cease-fire. By nightfall, as the hostages should have emerged from Gaza, Hamas alleged that the aid deliveries permitted by Israel fell short of what was promised and that not enough of the aid was reaching northern Gaza — the focus of Israel's ground offensive and main combat zone. Hamas also said not enough veteran prisoners were freed in the first swap on Friday.“This is putting the deal in danger and we have spoken to mediators about that,” Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, said in Beirut. But Egypt, Qatar and Hamas itself later said obstacles ha...What Sharks’ Quinn said about injured winger still finding his way

SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks forward Filip Zadina is considered day to day with an upper-body injury and will miss Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, coach David Quinn said.Zadina did not play the final two periods of Friday’s game with the Montreal Canadiens, a 3-2 shootout loss for the Sharks, with Quinn saying after the game that the winger’s upper body issue “had been bothering him and it just acted up.”Zadina, 23, was signed by the Sharks to a one-year, $1.1 million deal in July after he and the Detroit Red Wings, who drafted him sixth overall in 2018, mutually agreed to terminate his previous contract.Seeking a fresh start with another team, Zadina left behind $4.56 million in actual money he was owed to become a free agent. Feeling he would get that opportunity under Quinn, he joined the Sharks on a short-term contract and will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights after the season.Prior to Friday’s game, Zadina had three goals and two assists and...Former county sheriff and supervisor passes away
